Supporter Visits

We encourage volunteers and supporters from the UK and elsewhere to visit Chengannur and they are able to stay with Jacob Punnen, our Project Manager. Jacob and his family provide both accommodation, in the form of a self contained cottage within their property, and all meals for a moderate charge (by UK standards).

Visitors will have the benefit of  being able to see first hand our work and get involved in helping in the local community. Jacob can arrange involvement in teaching, nursing, arts and crafts or other areas to use any specific skills of the volunteers. This involvement can be from a few hours to several weeks to suit the visitors circumstances.

Our personal approach is epitomised by the time and attention that Jacob and his family give to their visitors – this is an opportunity to see the beautiful Kerala State (known as God`s Own Country) from a truly Indian perspective!

Two recent visitors sent us the following account on their return to England:

“It was the most amazing experience of our lives, it was great to see for ourselves the work that the charity is doing. We visited the houses that had been built and we met the deserving families who live in them. We shall never forget the amazing feeling we had when visiting the part time school where so many children were eager to meet and practice their English with us. Towards the end of our visit the sponsored children of the ESCT organised a show for us. They had gone to so much effort, arranging drama, sketches, songs and dances. We were truly touched by their enthusiasm to meet and entertain us.

We did so much during the 3 weeks but we both agreed that all this would not have been possible without Jacob, his lovely family and helpers. It was an absolute pleasure to see first hand the work of the Trust. We would definitely recommend this place as a wonderful destination for an incredible experience. Given the opportunity we would love to return.”
